What's a museums most important contribution to society?
In a post colonial context with super diverse cities, the old model of a museum isn't working. We want to re-imagine and re-design The museum of the future with your help.
We are excited to announce the open call for our research project Hood Politics, aimed at (spatial) designers.
Hood Politics is a yearly research project focused on bringing: artists together with societal challenges from different sectors. To help ignite the transformative role of museums, arts paces/centres and artist within society we would like to design a space that is responding to our current needs. This assignment will focus on Schilderswijk as a local context.
The assignment:
Orisun Studio is working on building ideas around a new cultural space and how this new model can look like. We want to create this space through research projects and creative minds who can help us imagine the future of cultural spaces. Draft a concept of a new museum, artspace, cultural institution or something similar that will help the audience feel welcome, inspired, transformative and informed. In your proposal you can think about the physical aspect, context, programming, emotional and social value it will bring.
What can people do there besides watching arts? How does the museum contribute to our society in a meaningful way?
